Desert Archers

CLUB MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the desert archers shall be to foster, expand, and promote the practices of archery sports with the emphasis on bowhunting. To foster a spirit of sportsmanlike fellowship and conduct among bow hunters of the state of Arizona. To educate our members and the public in the sport of bow hunting using archery equipment with the proper proficiency to take game in a humane manner. To cooperate with all state and federal governments, recognized groups of sportsmen, and other related conservation bodies, in the propagation and conservation of game and its habitat. Last, but not least, to support family involvement in a sport that the whole family can participate.

THE CLUB TODAY

Desert Archers is an ASA and ABA affiliated organization. We are lodged on the Tucson Mountain Park archery range. The practice target range has 8 practice bales with ranges from 20 to 80 yards. The roving course consists of 3 courses with 14 targets per course. These targets are at distances from 10 to 80 yards During our club events we do not use the standing courses. We set up 2 new courses with fifteen 3D targets per course. Every target is set up to simulate an actual hunting situation. These 3D courses are not repeated. We mix up the course for each new event. Shoots are open to club members and non members alike.

we have approximately 30% families and 70% single memberships. No matter what equipment you shoot, longbow, recurve, or compound, there is someone in desert archers who shares your interest.

MEMBERSHIP

Single memberships are $40 and family memberships are $50. New single members get their choice of a club hat or club T shirt. New family memberships get their choice of 2 club hats or 2 club T shirts. All single members also get a $10 discount on all club shoots. All family memberships receive a $10 discount, for each adult family member (total of $20 max/family), on all shoot fees. All memberships are for 1 year from the date of joining. FUTURE PLANS

Desert archers is always in the building and improving stage. Our goal is to have 100 associate members and 20 active board members by mid 2009. The club continually upgrades our 3D targets and we are working to increase the total number of targets available to set up courses. We would also like to have more sponsors for mutual support.

We also plan to communicate and coordinate our club shoots with other clubs in the region and state and to support other clubs to enhance the sport of archery.
